JRCPTB have come off the fence and stated that “It was never the intention of the Board to mandate the use of wpba for SpRs although it was hoped that most would use them on a voluntary basis”. Thus pre-2007 trainees are not expected to produce bucketloads of GIM DOPS/CEX/ACAT paperwork at RITAs, although they can be used to support the usual methods of assessment (e.g. Supervisor’s reports).

Those of us who have been though the ARCP/RITA process over that last few months will most likely be aware that the nature and number of assessments required has a tendency to change as time goes on, particularly for the GIM component.

Here is a form for ARCP assessments, making it pretty clear what is expected to be achieved for progression.

Although the RITA doesn’t follow the same format, one could expect to progress by ticking all the boxes in the ARCP form.

I’m still unclear on what exactly is expected from GIM assessment for both old-style SpRs and STs transitioning to the new curriculum. Thankfully I don’t appear to be the only one. An update (imaginatively titled “How To Pass Your Annual Assessment Part Two”) will follow once I clear that up,
