Yet More SCE News

More information about the exit exam KBA SCE, this time from the JRCPTB.
What it does say – SpRs should not be put under pressure to sit the exam. It is not a requirement.
What it doesn’t say – SpRs will not be at a disadvantage if they don’t sit the exam.

SPECIALTY CERTIFICATE EXAMINATIONS NOT MANDATORY FOR SpRs

It has been brought to our attention that at RITA some SpRs are being put under some pressure to sit the Specialty Certificate Examinations (SCE). JRCPTB wishes to make it clear that SpRs are not required to sit SCEs, but may do so if they wish, and this would be entirely at individuals’ discretion.

It has also been suggested that success in the SCE may provide some advantage at appointments committee, but again it will be solely for trainees to make a judgment as to whether or not to sit the examination.
