JRCPTB have come off the fence and stated that “It was never the intention of the Board to mandate the use of wpba for SpRs although it was hoped that most would use them on a voluntary basis”. Thus pre-2007 trainees are not expected to produce bucketloads of GIM DOPS/CEX/ACAT paperwork at RITAs, although they can be used to support the usual methods of assessment (e.g. Supervisor’s reports).

Those of us who have been though the ARCP/RITA process over that last few months will most likely be aware that the nature and number of assessments required has a tendency to change as time goes on, particularly for the GIM component. Here is a form for ARCP assessments, making it pretty clear what is expected to be achieved for progression. Although the RITA doesn’t follow the same format, one could expect to progress by ticking all the boxes in the ARCP form. I’m still unclear on what exactly is expected from GIM assessment for both old-style SpRs and STs…

More information about the exit exam KBA SCE, this time from the JRCPTB. What it does say – SpRs should not be put under pressure to sit the exam. It is not a requirement. What it doesn’t say – SpRs will not be at a disadvantage if they don’t sit the exam.
